A Refugee Snack of Wealthy Families - Peanut Candy Made from Longevity Nut

According to legend, the earliest appearance of peanut candy dates back to the Warring States period (475-221 BC). During the chaotic times of war, wealthy families combined maltose syrup and sugar cooked from malt into a sticky mixture, which was then boiled together with peanuts. After boiling, the mixture was cut into irregular small pieces, forming the ancestor of peanut candy. Peanuts are nourishing and beneficial, and are believed to promote longevity, hence the nickname "longevity nut." Peanuts have a higher nutritional value than grains and can rival some animal-based foods such as eggs, milk, and meat. They are rich in protein and fat, especially unsaturated fatty acids, making them suitable for making a variety of nutritious foods.
